An Introduction to Tsinghua Freescale MCU &DSP
 Application Center

  Tsinghua Freescale MCU Application Center was founded in April 1995, a non-profit institution which was sponsored by Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. & Engineering physics Dept of Tsinghua Univ. Since the second half of 2001, the cooperation between Freescale and Tsinghua University is extended to application of Freescale DSP, then the Center renames to Tsinghua Freescale MCU&DSP Application Center. The Electronics Engineering Department, which is strong in audio signal processing, is involved in the software development of DSP.

The center located in Engineering Physics Dept. building, Room 230, over 100 square meters. It has oscilloscopes, signal generators, several kinds of electronics instruments, 30 sets of IBM/PC, connected to internet, 30 sets of 68HC05 Emulators, 30 sets of 68HC11 Emulators and 30 sets of DSP56805

Evaluation boards for normal education and many other development tools for other Freescale MCU and DSPs. Besides all above, some other MCU development tools and target boards which were designed and manufactured by the center are also available in the lab. 500 sets of MC68HC908GP32 IDK has been used by several Universities in China for MCU application course . The Center has “MCU and Embedded System” course for post-graduate students and under-graduate students and has also MCU & DSP College, seminars and trainings for public.

  One week training course issues in the center every three months. It is open to public without charge. The content includes: The principle, experiment, design and develop skills of Freescale MCU and DSP. MCU application subjects: EMI, EMC and PCB design. .Freescale 8 bits, 16 bits and 32 bits MCU and the latest new product. The Embedded Real Time System is also involved. A hotline (62785779) is equipped in the Center, with which users easy to question us at any available time.

The center has also a well-equipped research lab in 210 and 211A at the same building, an outstanding MCU and DSP application develop team which is consist of professors, associate professors, engineers, several Ph.D. and masters. A Power PC based workstation and over 10 sets of Pentium PC computers are linked to the Internet. Samples, develop kits and programmers etc Provided by Freescale Co. and some MCU Real Time OS develop software and FPGA design software from other resources are also available in the lab. In recent years, Several MCU application projects were done in the Center, which included consumers, communications, automotive, industry control and instruments. Some projects are mainly for demonstration. The application program will be published on the Internet as free software.
